reaction kettle:
Stainless steel coils can be used to make the cylinder, head, or lining of reaction vessels through welding, stamping, and other processes. For reaction vessels that handle corrosive media such as nitric acid, sulfuric acid, acetic acid, etc., 304, 316L and other types of stainless steel coils are commonly used (316L contains molybdenum and is more resistant to chloride ion corrosion) to avoid corrosion of the equipment by the media.
Heat exchanger:
The plates of plate heat exchangers and the heat exchange tubes of tube heat exchangers are often made of thin gauge stainless steel coils (thickness 0.3-1mm). The high thermal conductivity and corrosion resistance of stainless steel make it suitable for heating or cooling processes in acid-base solutions and organic solvents (such as coolers in synthetic ammonia plants).
Separators/Filters:
Stainless steel coils, such as the trays of distillation towers, the shells of coalescers, and the filter frames of filtration equipment, can be processed into complex structures that are resistant to impurities, wear, and chemical corrosion in materials.
2、 Pipeline and fittings system
The material transportation in the chemical industry relies on a large number of pipelines, and stainless steel coils are important raw materials for making corrosion-resistant pipes and fittings
1. Transportation pipeline:
Seamless pipes or welded pipes made of stainless steel coils are used for transporting corrosive media (such as hydrochloric acid, caustic soda solution, sulfur-containing wastewater) and high-temperature fluids (such as steam, molten salt). For example, the pipelines used to transport chlorine gas and caustic soda in the chlor alkali industry are mostly made of 316L stainless steel coils.
2. Pipe fittings and flanges:
Pipe fittings such as elbows, tees, flanges, etc. need to have corrosion resistance consistent with the pipeline. Their blanks are often stamped and forged from stainless steel coils to ensure that there is no leakage and resistance to medium erosion at the connection.
3、 Containers and storage tanks
Containers for storing raw materials, intermediate products, or finished products in chemical production need to withstand medium corrosion for a long time, and stainless steel coils are ideal materials:
1. Storage tank and tank body:
The shell of large storage tanks can be welded with thick stainless steel coils (thickness 3-20mm) for storing nitric acid, acetic acid, methanol, etc; Small tanks (such as measuring tanks and high-level tanks) are stamped or welded with thin rolls, suitable for laboratory or small-scale production.
2. Inner lining anti-corrosion:
For large concrete or carbon steel storage tanks, stainless steel coils can be used as lining (fixed by welding or pasting), which not only reduces costs but also utilizes the corrosion resistance of stainless steel to protect the tank body (such as 304 stainless steel lining commonly used for storage tanks storing concentrated sulfuric acid).
4、 Anti corrosion lining and covering parts
In some non stainless steel main equipment, stainless steel coils are often used as anti-corrosion linings or surface coatings to enhance the corrosion resistance of the equipment
1. Lining of mixing equipment:
If the inner wall of the mixing tank comes into direct contact with corrosive materials, a layer of stainless steel coil (thickness 0.5-2mm) can be lined and fixed by welding or bolts to avoid contact between the material and the tank body (such as carbon steel).
2. Valve and pump body components:
The valve plate of the valve and the impeller of the pump need to frequently come into contact with the medium. After stainless steel coil processing (stamping, cutting), the wear resistance and corrosion resistance can be improved, and the equipment life can be extended (such as 304 stainless steel commonly used for impellers of chemical centrifugal pumps).
5、 Environmental protection and wastewater treatment equipment
Chemical wastewater has complex components (including acid, alkali, heavy metal ions, etc.), and treatment equipment needs to be resistant to strong corrosion. Stainless steel coils are widely used:
1. Wastewater treatment tank:
Stainless steel coils are commonly used for welding or laying on the inner walls of neutralization tanks, sedimentation tanks, and filtration tanks to prevent the erosion of concrete or carbon steel by wastewater (such as 316L stainless steel used in tanks for treating chromium containing wastewater).
2. Exhaust gas treatment device:
The spray pipes and lining of the absorption tower and desulfurization tower are made of stainless steel coils, which are resistant to corrosion from acidic and alkaline waste gases such as sulfur dioxide and hydrogen chloride.
6、 Laboratory and Small Equipment
1. Experimental vessels:
Small reaction bottles, separating funnels, sample storage tanks, etc. can be stamped from thin stainless steel coils (thickness 0.2-0.5mm) and are suitable for processing corrosive samples in the laboratory.
2. Instrument protective shell:
The casings of pressure gauges, flow meters, and other instruments in chemical sites need to withstand corrosive gases in the environment, and are commonly made of stainless steel coils to enhance their protection level.
